CARE OF YOUR FLOWERS BEFORE SHIPPING
The fresher the flowers and the better the condition we receive them in, the better the finished art work will be.
Take care of your flowers during the event, and in particular, keep them out of direct heat as much as possible. Always take care laying them down, to avoid any breakages.
After your event, if you can, place them back in the box in which they were delivered. Otherwise, put them in a vase (if possible) or in another suitable box/container. Then, until collection/delivery, keep them in the coolest place you can. You can spray them lightly with water or place damp paper towel over them (but NOT newspaper).
Do not place them in the fridge or the freezer or cover the flower heads in plastic (bag or wrap).
If you can place them in a vase, cut 1cm off the bottom of the stems before doing this.
Please, please, please NEVER FREEZE YOUR BOUQUET.
PACKING FLOWERS TO SEND TO US
If you live outside of the Sydney metro area you can pack and post your flowers to us in a box. Please use the following instructions for the best outcome.
What you will need:
2 Wettex sponges (one large sponge may be sufficient to cover the ends, but get two to be safe)
1 large ziplock bag
Several elastic bands
White tissue paper, brown craft paper or newspaper
Postage box large enough to accommodate your bouquet (but not too big)
The first thing we recommend is to purchase a mailing/storage box from Australia Post (or courier company if you are freighting the bouquet to us) and all the other bits and pieces from the above list. For the box, we recommend getting your florist’s advice about the required dimensions – you want it to fit easily but without too much space around. Ideally the flowers will not touch the edges of the box; allow enough room for tissue/craft paper/newspaper to fully surround and support the flowers. Take extra care if using newspaper with pale coloured flowers as the print may transfer.
The Wettex sponge/s are to be wrapped around the ends of the stems as per the below images, and then dampened. The ziplock bag is to then go over the dampened sponge/s and flower ends in order to keep the sheets/stems moistened but to protect the postage box from water damage. Please see the images below for a step by step guide.
When you are ready to package the flowers, place scrunched up tissue (and extra newspaper if needed) at the base of the box. Place the flowers/bouquet (with the ends covered with the Wettex sponges and ziplock bag) on top of the paper, then place more paper around the sides and over the flowers so the bouquet is fully supported and protected from the walls of the box. If you are using newspaper and tissue, please ensure only the tissue makes contact with the petals as newspaper ink can transfer. With longer stemmed bouquets, you may need to bend or cut them down.
Please prominently mark the box with the delivery address (64 Windsor Rd, Dulwich Hill, NSW, 2203) and the words FRAGILE and FRESH FLOWERS in large letters. Also, please let us know when you have posted them so we can be ready to receive them.
If your bouquet is packed with care and lots of padding, no harm should come to the flowers and they will arrive in good condition ready to be captured and turned into something beautiful.
Lastly, please note that shipping the flowers to Floragraphica is at the client's expense. If using Australia Post, we request that you post using registered express post so that the flowers can be tracked if needed. If you choose to use a courier/freight service, we have used Startrack and Toll with good success.
